Ronan Nédélec studied singing at the National Conservatory of Paris with Rachel Yakar and Peggy Bouveret from where he graduated in 2000. He has also studied the song repertoire with Ruben Lifschitz.He embarked upon his operatic career soon afterwards, most notably in Samson (Handel) at the Ambronay Festival and he continued with a range of principal roles in works such as Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, Les Brigands (Offenbach), Werther, Faust, Madama Butterfly, La boh?me and L’enfant et les sortil?ges. He has performed at opera houses and festivals throughout France - Tours, Rennes, Lille, Montpellier, Caen, Limoges, l’Opéra-Comique, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris…He is invited regularly to perform in festivals both in France and further afield and has recorded widely. In 2002, he was the game-keeper in The Cunning Little Vixen (Janacek) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, where he made further appearances in El Retablo de Maese Pedro (Falla) and Renard (Stravinsky) with Pierre Boulez and Klaus Michael Grüber.He created the title-role in the Luthier de Venise by Gualtiero Dazzi at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris and sang Zurga in Les p?cheurs de perles at the Tours Opera.He has performed a broad repertoire of works both for the stage and concert hall with such distinguished conductors as John Nelson, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Alain Altinoglu, Jean-Yves Ossonce, Mikko Franck, Susanna Mälkki, Bruno Mantovani, Ton Koopman, Hervé Niquet, Gérard Lesne, Reinhard Goebel, Christopher Hogwood…Recent engagements include Otello (Verdi) in Reims, Neues vom Tage (Hindemith) in Dijon, The Telephone/Amelia al ballo (Menotti), Dialogues des Carmélites, Tosca, Fidelio and Faust at the Tours Opera, Orfeo (Apollo) by Monteverdi in Versailles, and Fairy Queen (Purcell) in Lyon with Sébastien d’Hérin and “Les Nouveaux caract?res”.In 2011, Ronan Nédélec made his la Scala debut in Roméo et Juliette in a production by Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Bartlett Sher.During the last seasons, he performed L’Orfeo in Avignon, Lyon and Massy, Rigoletto (Monterone) in Tours and Reims, L’Amour masqué, Roméo et Juliette (Mercutio), Un Ballo in Maschera, L’Aiglon, Passionnément, Carmen, Gianni Schicchi, La Traviata, La Belle Hél?ne at the Tours Opera, Renard in Paris, Le Bal Masqué by Poulenc in Milan, Carmina Burana at Reunion Island, Turandot at Sanxay Festival, Carmen in Osaka, Don Chisciotte in Cervantino Festival in Mexico.
