Highslide JS
Josef Klusoň
Born in Vysoké Mýto, Josef Klusoň started playing the violin at the age of seven. In 1968, Josef was admitted to study the viola at the Prague Conservatory. He continued his viola studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) with Prof. J. Koďousek, where he performed his graduation concert with the FOK Prague Symphony Orchestra presenting Rhapsody by B. Martinů. During his studies in 1972, together with J. Pražák, Josef founded the Pražák Quartet, which received several first prizes in international competitions and to this day it represents the great Czech violin tradition all over the world.
Josef Klusoň is frequently invited to collaborate on projects with other ensembles such as Talich, Panoch, Kocián, Stamic Quartet, etc. Recently, he has been also devoted to his teaching activities, especially during international master classes and also privately teaches and provides assistance to young ensembles. In addition to his recordings with the Pražák Quartet (approximately 40 CDs), Josef Klusoň as a soloist recorded complete viola sonatas by Max Reger and Johannes Brahms. At the moment, he is preparing a new CD with the B. Martinů and M. Weinberg music.
