Ewald Demeyere

On completion of his studies he was appointed to teach harmony, counterpoint and fugue at the Koninklijk Vlaams Muziekconservatorium of Antwerp. Since 1994 he has been a member of La Petite Bande (Sigiswald Kuijken), and plays regularly with Il Fondamento (Paul Dombrecht).
He has played chamber music with the Kuijken brothers, Paul Dombrecht and Frank Theuns. In 2000 he was awarded the prize Jeugd en Muziek Vlaanderen, and was also laureate of the Belgian Stichting Roeping.
In the same year he founded the ensemble De Profundis, which intends to revive the central role of the keyboard instrument in the baroque ensemble.
Ewald Demeyere has taken part in many recordings, and his solo recordings include Preludes and Fugues by Johann Philipp Kirnberger (Eufoda), harpsichord works by Johann Christian and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (Signum), Johann Sebastian Bach's Inventionen und Sinfonien (Digi Classics) and Eight Keyboard Sonatas by Thomas Arne (Accent) which have been greeted with great critical acclaim. He recorded J.S. Bach's flute sonatas with Barthold Kuijken.
