In 1991, Dan Bárta decided to pursue his musical aspirations. His first step towards this goal was achieved by joining the band Tom Sawyer. Dan´s next move was to form the band Alice with whom he released three albums. Around the same time, Dan also became involved with the group Die El Elephant, releasing an album with them. In 1994, Dan joined the funk/rap ensemble J.A.R., a long-running association that remains to the present day. Dan also became involved with musical stage work: he took on the role Jesus, then Judas, in a very successful Czech performance of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. He later accepted the role of Che in a Prague production of Evita. Back on his own, Dan founded the short-lived but popular, Sexy Dancers in 1998. 2000 was marked by the formation of ILLUSTRATOSPHERE. Dan Bárta was awarded "Singer of the Year" from The Academy of Popular Music for the years 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2008 for his vocal work and for his performances on the Czech stage. Dan is currently working on a collaborative album with The Robert Balzar Trio for a planned release in late 2010.
