Born in 1976 in the Czech Republic, the clarinettist Zbigniew Kaleta started his musical training at the University in Ostrava. He graduated with distinction in 2001 from the Academy of Music in Katowice, where he studied on a Polish Government scholarship. Prizewinner in many nationwide and international music competitions, among his awards are the first prize at the 2000 Academic Competition for Clarinettists in Wloszakowice. Since September 1997 he has served as first clarinettist of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, touring with this ensemble in Europe, recording for the Polish Radio and international record companies. As a soloist he has appeared with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Ostrava, the Silesian Philharmonic and the PNRSO in Katowice. He has also performed for Czech Radio and recorded a CD with works by Stamitz, Telemann and Backhofen. From 1994 to 1997 he was a member of the Anton Stadler Clarinet Quartet in Ostrava, and is now a member of the Clarinet Quartet of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.
