Pavel studied at the Janáček Academy in Brno - first Composition and later Conducting. He completed his PhD studies last year. He has been awarded for his compositions in the Generation – International Competition for Composers. Pavel conducted the Ars Incognita ensemble, with which he has premiered dozens of pieces by contemporary composers, among others, on Prague Spring and Prague Premieres festivals. He has collaborated with leading Czech symphonic orchestras and theatre stages, including the Prague National Theatre. Between 2004–2007, Pavel was engaged in the National Theatre Brno, and from 2001–2008 he was the conductor of the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen (among others, the world premiere of the ballet Garden based on the eponymous book by Jiří Trnka featuring the music of Zbyněk Matějů). Since the 2008/2009 season, Pavel has been in a permanent engagement with the Prague State Opera as a conductor of ballet performances; he has staged there, for example, the world premiere of the ballet Phantom of the Opera by Petr Malásek and Libor Vaculík. In the 2011/2012 season, he was the chief conductor of the Olomouc Moravian Theatre Opera, and currently acts as a conductor of Janáček's Opera.In 2011, Pavel founded the young ambitious ensemble BCO - Brno Contemporary Orchestra, which features Czech and world premieres and great works of the latest generation composers and focuses on combining different arts and incorporating compositions with less common instrumental casts.
