Martin Gyimesi

In 2005 he enrolled at the State Conservatory in Bratislava in the class of prof. Gurgen Ovsepian. He continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava with prof. Lubica Rybárská. While still a student, he performed in Bratislava at the New Scene and became a member of the choir of the Opera of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (SNT). He soon became a regular host soloist at the State Opera in Banská Bystrica.
Since 2013, Martin Gyimesi has been a soloist at the Slovak National Theatre and played many roles such as Nemorino (Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore), Mozart's Tamino (the Magic flute), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Ferrando (Cos? fan tutte), Verdi's Don Riccardo (Ernani), Malcolm (Macbeth) and Ismael (Nabucco), Edmondo (Puccini: Manon Lescaut), Alan Campbell (Čekovská: Dorian Gray), Bruno (Bellini: I Puritani), Tybalt (Gounod: Romeo and Juliet), or Almavivo (Rossini: Il barbiere di Seviglia).
In 2014, he introduced himself as Delil (Verdi: Giovanna D'Arco) at the open air festival Viva Verdi, and in 2015-2016 he been participated in the project under the patronage of Anna Netrebko, singing the role of Kay in the opera The Snow Queen by current Russian composer Sergei Banevic in Eisenstadt, Austria.
In year 2016, he debuts at Antonín Dvořák Theatre in Ostrava staging Brandenburgers in Bohemia (by B. Smetana) conducted by Jakub Klecker and directed by Jiri Nekvasil.
