Czech sinfonietta
Debut of Czech Sinfonietta took place in a sold-out Dvorak´s Hall at Rudolfinum during the Prague Spring Festival 2010, which had on programme works by Mozart, Telemann, Haydn and Bartok. Enthusiasm of all players, individual sound, persuasive interpretation and virtuosity were appreciated by the audience standing ovation. At the same time, the ensemble was proposed to record complete Mozart and Haydn horn concertos with Radek Baborak and top eight symphonies of the same authors for the Japanese label Octavia Records.
Czech Sinfonietta, as the name suggests, is a smaller symphonic ensemble of seventy musicians. That means it has all the instrument groups, which are mostly occupied by two people playing wind instruments. String section plays in at least twenty-four players. Player's core orchestra consists mainly of Baborak Ensemble members and other players of Czech chamber ensembles and orchestras as the Wihan Quartet, Herold Quartet, Epoque Quartet, Afflatus Quintet, Czech Nonet, Czech Philharmonic, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, National Theatre Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonia.
Most of them are laureates of international competitions, active teachers at the conservatory and Academy of Art, with experience of foreign schools and master classes. Most members are interested not only in classical music, but in jazz, ethno, rock as well, or in interpretation of Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary music.
Czech Sinfonietta focuses primarily on the interpretation of works by Baroque masters (Bach, Handel, Telemann), Classicism (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven), Romanticism (Schubert, Bartholdy, Brahms, Dvorak) and the first half of the 20th century (Ravel, Ibert, Respighi, Bartok, Prokofiev, Britten).
