He made his debut as a first year student, at the Poznan Philharmonic, under the baton of Professor Stefan Stuligrosz. Since then, he has been invited to solo recitals of songs and oratorio concerts, both in Poland and abroad. He has given concerts in almost all countries of Europe. He has collaborated with renowned pianists, such as Andrzej Tatarski, Marcin Koziak and Piotr Różański, as well as conductors: Jan Tomasz Adamus, Krzysztof Penderecki, Stefan Stuligrosz, Piotr Sułkowski, Federico Maria Sardelli, Allesandro de Marchi, Poul McCreesh, Joshua Riffkin, Andrew Parrot, Vincent Dumestre and Fabio Bonizzoni.
In 2008 he debuted on stage during the Barbakanfestival in Krakow performing the part of Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro by W. A. Mozart. In 2009 and 2010 he performed at the Belcanto International Vocal Festival in Nałęczów, where he won the Grand Prix – Golden Nightingale, the audience award and the award of the Association of Polish Stage Artists. In 2010 he received the Opera Studio scholarship at the Verdi Theatre in Pisa, where he sang the parts of Maestro in the opera Le convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali by G. Donizetti in the artistic season 2010/2011. He also sang this part in the theatres of Tuscany, in Lucca and Livorno.
Sebastian Szumski performs in Poland and abroad. His achievements include numerous radio, television and album recordings, the most important of which are a CD with Weihnachtsoratorium by J.S. Bach with Arte dei Suonatori, a DVD with Symphony No 2 , the “Copernican”, by H. M. Górecki as well as a CD with all motets by J.S. Bach recorded solo for the prestigious French label Alpha. His repertoire includes a variety of musical compositions, ranging from Renaissance polyphonies to contemporary pieces, among them being numerous song series, solo oratorio parts and solo parts in the operas of Handel, Purcell, Mozart, Donizetti and Moniuszko. In the recent years, he has specialised in performing Baroque music as confirmed by his collaboration with such ensembles as Arte dei Suonatori, La Poem Harmonique czy La Risonanza. Currently, he is a chamber musician and soloist of the renowned ensemble Capella Cracoviensis.
