Sébastien Droy
tenor (France)
After receiving his diploma in 2003, he began a career which consisted mainly in opera singing. From the very start he performed around 25 different roles ranging from the baroque period to XXth century music.
Among his favourite and most frequently sung repertoire are roles from Mozart operas. He sang: Ottavio (Don Giovanni) at Tours and Monte Carlo Opera Houses, Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte) at Saint-Etienne Theater, at the Rhin National Opera and in several summer festivals as Antibes and Beaune (directed by Marc Minkowski), Idamante (Idomeneo) at the Rhin National Opera and at the Auditorium of Lyon, Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Saint-Etienne Theater, Agenore (Il Re Pastore) at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris and at the Innsbrück Opera House (Austria), and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) in five different productions at the Saint-Etienne, Marseille, Metz and Strasbourg Opera Houses and lately at the Bordeaux National Opera.
He also performed many different roles in France and abroad, such as Adonis (Vénus et Adonis, by Desmarest) at the Lorraine National Opera conducted by Christophe Rousset, Pylade (Iphigénie en Tauride, by Gluck), Il Conte Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, by Rossini) in Nancy, Tours Rennes and Toulon Opera Houses, Pâris (La Belle Hél?ne, by Offenbach) at the Capitole Theater of Toulouse and then in Lausanne (Switzerland), Nantes, Bordeaux and Strasbourg Opera Houses, Alfred (Die Fledermaus, by J.Strauss) in Toulouse, Fenton (Falstaff, by Verdi) in Montpellier, Andreloun (Mireille, of Gounod) at the Paris National Opera, Tybalt (Romeo et Juliette, of Gounod), at the De Nederlandse Opera of Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Le Chevalier de La Force (Dialogues des Carmélites, by Poulenc) in Avignon, and recently Cassio in Otello by Verdi in Marseille, Rodrigue (Rodrigue et Chim?ne, by Debussy) at the Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Hall (Russia) and Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress, by Stravinsky) at the Lorraine National Opera, Fritz (La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein, by Offenbach) at the Royal Opera of Wallonie, Artémidore and Le Chevalier Danois (Armide, by Gluck) at the DNO in Amsterdam.

Lastly, Sebastien Droy holds a deep appreciation for the more intimite and delicate side of French Melody and Lieder, but also for its rougher and more passionate dimension. He sang recitals of works by Fauré, Debussy, Gounod, Liszt, Schumann and Brahms (Mélodies de Venise, Ariettes Oubliées, La Biondina, Dichterliebe, Die Schöne Maguelone..) in France, for instance at the Nancy, Bordeaux, Montpellier Opera Houses and at the Paris National Opera (Opéra Garnier).
