Robert Sellier was born in 1979 in Munich and his studies of singing at the Music Academy in Augsburg with John Hammar finished with excellent grades.
In the concert field, he focuses on historically informed interpretation of works from the 17th and 18th centuries. He has sung with various ensembles specializing in early music in the original version as Münchener Hofkapelle, La Banda, L'arpa festante, Orfeo Barockorchester, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Europa Antiqua Consort, Barucco, Händelfestspielorchester Halle, Cappella and New Dufana London Consort.
As an opera singer he has been a guest of numerous international festivals, eg. Salzburger Festspiele, Festspiele Ludwigsburger, Brighton Festival, the Istanbul Music Festival, Festival Centro Histórico Mexico, Händelfestspiele Göttingen or Halle.
After guest roles in opera houses in Augsburg and Kaiserslautern, Münster, Klagenfurt and the Comic opera in Berlin, and after a permanent engagement at the Gärtnerplatz theater in Munich (2007-2012) he has been a permanent member of the ensemble of the Opera Halle since 2013/2014 season. In this season he performs the roles of Tamino, Hippolyt (H.W. Henze´s Phaedra), Alfred (Die Fledermaus) and Varo (Händl´s Arminio). Visitors can also hear him as a soloist in Britten's War Requiem.
