Igor Vejsada
gor Vejsada is the Czech dancer and choreographer. After graduating from the dance department of Conservatory in his hometown of Brno he studied a year as an intern at the Ballet Academy of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow (1975-1976). Twenty-year career as a dancer (during which he successfully participated in national and international competitions) opened at the National Theatre in Brno, where he performed many solo roles (eg. Merkutio, Romeo and Juliet, The Miraculous Mandarin, The Firebird, Shaman, The Rite of Spring, Puck in Midsummer Night Dream, the Jester in Swan Lake and Cinderella).
Later he received a two-year contract in Győr Ballet, Hungary under the direction of Béjart's student, the choreographer Ivan Markó. After returning home, he founded the New Ballet Brno, where he was actively involved in contemporary dance, and in 1992 he became a member of the Israeli dance ensemble Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, where he is currently being invited as a teacher. In 1994, an artistic director of the ballet ensemble of the National Theater in Mannheim, Philippe Talard offered him an engagement. He toured in Europe and overseas, and participated in festivals in the USA, Australia, China and Japan.
In 1995 he studied choreography at Academy of Performing Arts, Bratislava, and began to devote himself to teaching and choreographic work. Since 1996 he has been the head of the ballet ensemble of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava (NMST), where he created dozens of ballets (Coppelia, White dreams, The Beatles, The Doors, Dvorak - Requiem, Romeo and Juliet, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Dispute or Touches and Connections, Miracle in Silence - with Philippe Talard and Eric Trottier, etc.). IHealso works as a lecturer at the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts, Brno.
He collaborates with the opera ensemble of NMST (eg. Oberon, Speechless of Portici, Two Widows, Prince Igor, Rigoletto, Theatre behind the Gate, Jenufa, Manon Lescaut, La Rondine, The Rake's Progress, La Wally etc.); collaborated and collaborates with drama (Moliere, Amadeus) and operetta ensemble of NMST (Hangman and Lunatic, Hunchback of Notre Dame).
He works on theoretical-practical activities in the field of contemporary dance and is invited to professional juries of international dance competitions and festivals. He is a member of the international jury of the prestigious Ballet Monaco Dance Forum Awards, which awards prizes for the best dance performances, as well as the best dance companies, choreographers and long-term activities in the field of dance. Noteworthy is his teaching and choreographic collaboration with wheelchair handicapped - clients of Performing School in Ostrava - Marianske Hory.
Currently (since 2014) is a ballet master and choreographer of the ballet ensemble of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre.
