Roman Hoza

Roman Hoza was born in 1990 in Zlin, Czech Republic. Besides his studies on Janacek Academy in Brno and Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna he also attended many masterclasses of world-known soloists or coaches such as C. Ludwig, L. Watson, H. Deutsch, J. P. Fouchécourt, T. Krause, A. Plachetka or D. Syrus.
In 2014 Roman Hoza participated in Salzburger Festspiele Young Singers Project as Dandini in Cenerentola for children audience. In the same year he took part in the opera studio of Opera National de Lyon. Since January 2015 untill August 2016 he was a member of the opera studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg where he appeared on stage in many repertoire roles like Morales, Silvano, Marullo, Papageno for kids, prince Afron and others.
Nowadays Roman Hoza is a soloist of Janacek Opera Brno where you can hear him as Don Giovanni, Marbuel (Dvorak: Kate and the Devil), Rimbaud (Le Comte Ory) or Jaufré Rudel (Saariaho: L’Amour de loin). He is a regular guest in Prague National Theatre (Mozart’s Figaro, Donizetti’s Mamma Agata or Rossini’s Dandini) and National Theatre Ostrava in the title role of Hamlet by A. Thomas. Among his performed repertoire in the past belongs for example Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), Belcore (Elisir d’amore), title role of Eugen Onegin, bass/baritone parts in The Messiah, Paulus, Die Schöpfung, Dvorak’s Te Deum and many more.
Roman Hoza focuses also on chamber music (song cycles by Dvorak, Janacek, Mahler, Martinu, Ravel, Schubert, Schumann…) as well as baroque music cooperating with leading baroque ensembles in Czech Republic (Collegium 1704, Ensemble Inegal, Musica Florea…).
