Karel Jakubů graduated from the Pardubice Conservatory (solo singing - baritone, in the class of Václav Zítek from 1998 until 2004) and has been a student and scientific researcher at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the Technical University in Prague (specialization in Automation and Informatics). He is a soloist of the ensemble Musica Bohemica directed by Jaroslav Krček (since 2000) and a managing director of the public benefit corporation Metro of the Giant Mountains, preparing a pilot project of the light rail transport in the Giant Mountains. He started as a soloist of the children's and youth choir Jizerka in Semily and of the association Collegium Musicum "Czech Paradise" in Lomnice nad Popelkou. He also worked in the ensemble for non-traditional folklore Fidle in Jičín. In 2000 he led the choir of the Pardubice Conservatory ReBelCanto. Furthermore he appeared as a guest artist at the Municipal Theatre in Mladá Boleslav in the national fairy tale of Josef Kajetán Tyl Stubborn Woman. He made his debut in the field of opera at the Estates Theatre in Prague playing the role of Tomš in the performance of the Pardubice Conservatory Kiss by Bedřich Smetana. In 2001, he received an honorable mention award of first degree in the National Singing Contest of Conservatoires of the Czech Republic. In his home region he runs many musical entertainment-educational events in which he also acts as a soloist. He co-operates with the St. Wenceslas Temple Choir in Paseky nad Jizerou and the Union of Czech Composers where he presents works by contemporary composers at first run. In 1999, he founded the Chamber Symphony Orchestra of the Metro of the Giant Mountains (KSOKrM) which he has been heading as a chief conductor since now. As a managing director of the public benefit corporation Metro of the Giant Mountains, he inquires into new unconventional and progressive solutions of public transport in the Giant Mountains using modern environmental transport systems. In the civic association Přítel Krkonošského metra (Friend of the Metro of the Giant Mountains) he works at the construction of a museum of transport projects in the Giant Mountains. He has also worked on projects of urban and regional public transport in Pardubice and the Pardubice Region. As a member of the Cultural Commission of the City of Semily he has tried to reorganize cultural activities in Semily and its surroundings. In the Liberec Region he participates in the evaluation process of the rapid transit tram system RegioTram Nisa and in the renovation of the railway transport. At the Technical University in Prague he has been working on the project Solutions for the regional rail transport by introducing railway-tram systems in the Czech Republic, including proposals of a hybrid drive system of vehicles and an automatic remote security service on lines of this system.
