Jan Ostrý
Jan Ostry studied the flute at the Prague Conservatory (F. Malotin), and continued the studies at the Conservatoire National de Region de Versailles(Ch. Rayneau). Later, he was a grantee of the French Government at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Lyon in the class of Ph. Bernold and was unanimously awarded the First Prize of this Conservatory.
He also visited a number of master classes under the leadership of A. Marion, B. Kuijken, K. Zoeller, J. Zoon, K. Hünteler, and C. Novak.
He performed at many festivals, including Styriarte in Graz (artistically led by N. Harnoncourt), Haydn Festspiele in Eisenstadt, the Dutch Radio in Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, the Days of Pierre Boulez in Lyon and Saint-Etienne (under leadership of  P.Bouleze), Prague Spring, St. Wenceslas Music Festival, Radio ORF Eggenberger Schosskonzerte Festival in Graz, Steirische Stifts-und Schloss Konzerte, Haydn Music Festival, Martinu Fest in Vienna, the International flute festival in Maastricht, the Mitte Europa Festival, Smetana Litomysl, Festival Concentus Moravie (with the Prague Philharmonia and J.Belohlavek), Saison Tchéque in France and many others.
Jan Ostry recorded a CD with pieces from A. Rejcha, CD with music by J. L. Dusik (Dussek) for the label Studio Matous and won The Critics Prize (Tip Harmonie). He participated in Eva Urbanova's CD for Supraphon (the Czech Christmas), he made flute quartets by J. J. Ryba for Naxos, Bach´s sonatas for two flutes and continuo, and CD „Bach Family“ – chamber music by Bach´s sons (Nimbus Records).
 In the concert season 1999/2000 was the solo flutist of the Orchestre National de Lyon, in the 2001/2002 season, he worked at the same position in the Den Norske Operaen Oslo and after his return to the Czech Republic also in the Talich Philharmonia.
He currently teaches at the Prague Conservatory and the University of Ostrava.
As demanded educator he is invited to teach at a number of master classes and participate in professional juries, eg. Academie International d’Eté in Nice, Internationale Meisterkurse in Vaduz, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon and more.
Since 2001 he has been teaching at the European Flute Academy in Fiss, Austria and since 2003 also at music workshops during the festival Neuberger Kulturtage.
