Moravská filharmonie Olomouc
During its existence the orchestra has performed an outstandingly large and varied repertoire which, besides the Czech music, includes compositions by the classics of the European orchestral music of the 19th and 20th century.
The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra has intensively been promoting contemporary Czech and international music which has been proven in the hundreds of premiered works by contemporary composers. In recent years the orchestra has been specializing in recording contemporary international music.
The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra has performed with great success in the majority of European countries and has taken part in many important international music festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, for example The Prague Spring Festival, Smetana’s Litomysl, the Summer Music Festival in Reims, France or the Thurn und Taxis Festspiele in Regensburg, Germany. The orchestra has performed on important European stages such as Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Saal der Münchner Philharmonie, Vereinsaal Wien, Saal Pleyel Paris, Tonhalle Zurich or Palau de Música in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Valencia.
The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra has been actively taking a share in the organizing of the cultural and concert life in Olomouc. The orchestra is also the promoter of the international music festival Dvořák’s Olomouc and the International Organ Music Festival.
