Markus Brutscher

tenor (Germany)

Highslide JS
Markus Brutscher
Markus Brutscher was born in Landsberg in Bavaria and was brought up in Augsburg. He received an early music training when he sung with the boys choir at the Augsburg Cathedral and the Regensburg Cathedral. Later he studied with Norma Sharp at the Berlin Hans Eisler Hochschule für Musik, then in London with Rudolph Piernay and finally in Maastricht where he studied the voice with Mya Besselink. Already during his studies Markus Brutscher was being counted as the most asked about tenor in the country. He has also performed at all the major music capitals in the whole of Europe, the United States of America and Asia. Markus Brutscher continuously works together with leading orchestras in Europe and America as well as with leading conductors such as Marc Minkowski, Alessandro de Marci, Thomas Hengelbrock, Frieder Bernius, Peter Neumann, Roland Wilson, Michael Schneider, Martin Haselböck, Helmut Müller‐Brühl and others. Even though Markus Brutscher is known as a specialist in old music he also manages to combine all types and styles from early Baroque to contemporary musical pieces into his repertoire, as well as developing more and more his operatic repertoire. During the last years the Opera became more and more value in Markus Brutschers career. Markus Brutscher performed in operaproductions like Traettas "Antigona" (Kreon/ Adastro) in Antwerp, Salamanca and Bruxelles, Strauß`"Fledermaus (Eisenstein), Janaceks "Katja Kabanova (Kudrias), Mozarts "Cosi fan tutte" (Ferrando), Mozarts "Zauberflöte"(Monostatos) at Staatstheater Stuttgart und guest performances in Japan, Brecht/ Weils "Mahagony" (Jack/ Tobby) in Basel, in Carl Maria von Webers "Freischütz" (Max), Hugo von Hoffmannsthals "Ariadne auf Naxos" (Scaramuccio) as well as at Teatro Real in Madrid and at the Opera Nacional de Paris in Mozarts "Zauberflöte" (Monostatos) in the spectacular stage performance by La Fura Dels Baus conducted by Marc Minkowski. 2009 Markus Brutscher will give his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurowski with the opera "Historia" by D.  Johann Fausten (concertant) at the Royal Festival Hall London. The musical press are unanimous in their praise for Markus Brutscher´s musical ability, the remarkable timbre of his voice as well as his vocal techniques and overwhelming stylistic sovereignty in all languages. He has also  found international acknowledgement for his high level of commitment to contemporary music.More than 50 recordings with SonyClassic, EMI, Capriccio and Thorofon show the versatility of Markus Brutscher as a singer. The latest CD‐productions are Vilvaldi Vesper conducted by Roland Wilson, Zaide with the Wiener Akademie conducted by Martin Haselböck, Mendessohns "Paulus" conducted by Doris Hagel and the just released solo‐CD "Bleibt ihr Engel, bleibt bei mir" with the orchestra Le Chardon.
