Paolo Bacchin

He was born in Soave (Italy, 01.08.1973), and he graduated in Italy, Switzerland, and Holland, in modern and baroque trumpet. He won the First Prize at the International Baroque Trumpet Competition in Halle, the Prix Superior Interregional, and the Prize Bela Siki. He performed Concertos, Cantatas and Oratorios by several composers such as J.S. Bach, Haendel, Telemann, Albinoni, Fasch, etc. , Haydn Trumpet Concerto with the "Klappentrompete". Recital Trumpet and Organ repertoire with the Baroque Trumpet, Slide Trumpet and Modern Trumpet.

After being a member of the "Ensemble voor Nieuwe Muziek" during the years 2000-2002, he plays medieval music with the Slide Trumpet with the ensemble "Via Artis". He collaborated with the "Historic Brass Society"(U.S.A. 1998 and Utrecht 2000) and with several groups and orchestras for concerts and recordings (radio-CD-DVD): Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, Freiburg Barock Orkest, Akademie Alte Music Berlin, Nederlandse Bach Vereniging, La Stagione Frankfurt, Trompete Consort Friedemann Immer, Les Perruques d'Amsterdam, Neuchatel Chambre Orchestra, Haydn Sinfonietta Wien, Musica ad Rhenum, Cantate Domino, Ars Cantica, Ensemble Vocal Lausanne, Solamente Naturali Bratislava, etc. Paolo gave a lecture-demonstration about the Baroque Trumpet, the Slide Trumpet, and the Keyed Trumpet during the summer courses "Curso Internacional de Musica: La interpretacion historica" in Valladolid (Spain), and at the Escuela National de Musica (UNAM, Mexico City). The Italian composer Andrea Fontemaggi dedicated to him a Sonata for Trumpet and Harpsichord (performed in March and May 2002) and a piece for Slide Trumpet and Harpsichord (performed in June 2003).
