Christian Leitherer

Christian Leitherer is one of the few specialists for the playing of historical clarinets. He studied clarinet with Pierre-André Taillard at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he received his diploma in 1997. With his research about the early history of the clarinet he received the master’s degree of the university Erlangen/Nuremberg.
Christian Leitherer works with many national and international orchestras, like the Baroque Orchestra Stuttgart and Hamburg, the “Fränkisches Kammerorchester Nuremberg”, La Banda Augsburg and the Cappella Coloniensis. With chamber music groups such as the Crescendo Baroque Ensemble Basle, L’arco cantabile, the Amphion Wind Octet and the Basle Clarinetconsort he performed at the Prague Spring festivals, the Rheingau Musicfestival, the “Fränkischer Sommer”, the Festive  Days of Ancient music in Nuremberg and Stuttgart, the Schleswig-Holstein music festival, the Telemann Festive Days Magdeburg and the festivals of York and Barcelona.
In various countries his work is documented by radio-, TV- or CD-productions.
