Veronika Holbová
Veronika studied classical opera singing with the soprano teacher MgA. Eva Dřízgová-Jirušová at the Janáček Conservatory and Grammar School in Ostrava, then at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Ostrava, where she currently continues her studies.
In 2012, Veronika won 2nd place at Imrich Godin's International Singing Competition IUVENTUS CANTI and in autumn 2012, she won 3rd place at Concorso internazionale "Musica sacra" in Rome. In 2013, together with an ensemble, she became the absolute winner of the instrumental-vocal category of the Stonavská Barborka Competition. In 2015, she won first place in the OPERA WOMEN category at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary.
Veronika cooperates with opera houses in the Czech Republic and abroad. Since 2009, she has been a guest singer at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre (NDM), starring in the roles of Barbarina (Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro), Annina (Verdi’s La Traviata), Esmeralda (Smetana’s The Bartered Bride), Barena (Janáček’s Her Stepdaughter), Anna (Verdi’s Nabucco), Rowan (Britten’s Little Sweep), Siren (Dvořák’s Armida), Fekluša (Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová), Barbara (Strauss’s Night in Night) and Black Woman (Martinů’s Three Wishes or The Capriciousness of Life). You can see her in Rosinni’s The Barber of Seville this season.
At the State Theatre Košice, Veronika performed in the roles of Countess (Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro), Concepcion (Ravel: L'heure espagnole) and Kitchen Boy (Dvořák: Rusalka) and also starred at the Silesian Theatre Opava as Rosina (Rossini: The Barber of Seville) and Fiordiligi (Mozart: Cos? fan tutte). She collaborates with the South Bohemian Theatre where she sang the roles of Fire, Nightingale and Princess (Ravel: Child and Magic). In autumn 2014, she sang the Second Wood Sprite role in Dvořák's Rusalka at the Opera de Lyon in France.
Veronika also collaborates with Czech orchestras (Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, Janáček Chamber Orchestra, Olomouc Moravian Philharmonic, Moravian-Silesian Symphony Orchestra, Májovák, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the Košice State Philharmonic Orchestra) and the Collegium 1704 ensemble. She also performs at festivals abroad – in 2007 and 2010 at the Les Rencontres in Louvergny, and in 2014 she attended Les Musicales de Louvergny.
