was born in 1982 in Banská Bystrica . As a child he received various awards at Slovak and international interpretation competitions and he took part in several tours abroad. He studied at the Concervatoire in Žilina (Darina Švárna) and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Marián Lapšanský). He is a prize winner of several competitions: 1st prize and the title of absolute winner at the Competition of Slovak Conservatoire Students (2000), 2nd prize at XXV Concorso intenazionale di esecuzione pianistica in Agropoli, Italy (2002), 3rd prize and Czech Music Fund Award at International Competition Prague Spring (2004), 3rd prize at Concorso intenazionale di esecuzione pianistica in Gorizia, Italy (2005), 2nd prize at Leoš Janáček International Piano Competition in Brno(2008), 2nd prize at J.N.Hummel International Piano Competition in Bratislava (2008) and 2nd prize and prize for best interpretation of Jewish composer at EU Piano Competition (2009). Matej Arendárik has performed as a soloist with the Slovak Philharmonic,Slovak Chamber Orchestra Bohdan Warchal, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, Plzeň Philharmonic, Brno Philharmonic, Janacek Philharmonic Ostrava, Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague and others; under conductors like Adres Orozco Estrada, Jose Ferreira Lobo, Misha Katz, Oliver Dohnányi, Petr Vronský, Leoš Svárovský, Jiří Malát,Peter Feranec,Rastislav Štúr, Theodore Kuchar and others. Matej gives concerts as a soloist, chamber player and accompanist at various festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad (Slovak Republic, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Great Britain, China..) and makes a recordings for Czech and Slovak Radio. He regularly co-operates with various chamber ensembles (Suchon Quintet(SK), Talich Quartet(CR) and o.) and actively participates in international interpretation masterclasses of renowned artistic personalities (Karl Heinz Kaemmerling, Mikhail Voskresensky, Eugen Indjič, Boris Berman, Piotr Paleczny, Peter Eicher, Robert Roux and o.)His profile CD with the works of Suchoň, Janáček, Zelenka, Brahms and Liszt was released by Diskant (2008).
