PhilHarmonia Octet Prague
PhilHarmonia Octet was initiated by Vilém Veverka and Vaclav Vonášek. Their intention was to create a group of the best contemporary Czech players who would confront the interpretation of the musical tradition with modern European styles and trends.
Aim of the group is to enrich the Czech music scene, expanding the repertoire and the displacement of existing interpretative standard.
Members of the ensemble are laureates of international competitions, graduate study abroad, or members of leading Czech orchestras. At the same time, each of them specifically devoted to solo, which is typical for the world's best ensembles of this kind.
The group name can be understood in two ways: according to the original meaning of the word "Philharmonic" - relish in unison, or by the concept of "harmony"- used for this kind of group from the classicism.
PhilHarmonia Octet´s repertoire monitors distinctive interpretations of musical expression changes during the last four centuries (from the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 3rd millennium).
