Pavel Nikl

Pavel Nikl studied with Zdeněk Novák at the Conservatory P. J. Vejvanovský in Kroměříž (1995–2001) and received a master´s degree in viola after graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, class by Jan Pěruška and Milan Škampa (2006). He also attended master classes at the Internationale Sommerakademie Prag-Wien-Budapest (2001).
He is the winner of several international competitions: International Competition Johannes Brahms in Portschach, Austria, 2003 (2nd prize), Béla Bartók Prize, Semmering, Austria, 2001 (2nd prize), Bohuslav Martinů Prize, Semmering, Austria, 20012 (2nd prize), International Competition Beethoven’s Hradec, 1995 (3rd prize).
As a soloist he performed with Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic, etc.
Since 2002, he is a member of the Pavel Haas Quartet.
