Markéta Cukrová was born in Prague. In her childhood she joined children’s singing choir and attended piano and traverso lessons. After graduating from Charles University in Prague she got professional training at the State Conservatory in Bratislava. The last two years she has been following the leadership of one of the most respected Czech singing teacher Marie Urbanová. Since 1992 she has been frequently taking part in Early music projects in Czech Republic and Europe, both as a soloist and as a member of ensembles performing music ranging from Medieval to Baroque accompanied with authentic instruments (Collegium 1704, Mala Punica, Musique des Lumiéres, Musica Florea, Collegium Marianum). Regularly she appears at most distinguished festivals of differing genres (Prague Spring, Svjatoslav Richter December Nights, Europalia, Tojours Mozart, Musica Judaica, Prague Summer Festival, The Brugge Festival of Early Music, St. Wenceslas Music Festival, Tropical Baroque, Musikverain Wien, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Trionale). She has been recording for Czech, French, Italian and Polish Radio Broadcasting and TV, for the first mentioned she completed a premiere Czech recording of Darius Milhaud’s composition Les Machines Agricoles. Continues to enrich her musical activities by performing chamber songs of Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic and 20th century authors and also oratorio and opera repertoire. She was pleased to take part in premiere setting of Monteverdi L´Orfeo in the Prague National Theatre, followed by Handel´s Rinaldo and Martinu´s Miracle of Mary.
